Line Art Reflection Replaces Photographs and Tradtional Journaling

Photographs capture the faces but not the conversation or the lessons learned upon reflection following conversations. The line art reflection (below) captures the bold type of conversation around the dinner table during a recent mission trip to work in the barrios of Los Cabos working together with Cabo English Church and their Feeding Los Cabos Kids ministry as we discussed the systems the keep people trapped in poverty. I wanted to remember the key points of the conversation more so than "just" the pictures and the faces. I chose a page previously painted with two layers of acrylic which had the words highlighted [exposed] "hearing the beat of the drummer" to reflect the topics discussed and the ideas shared. Instead journaling "traditional style" with lots of writing, I simply zeroed in on the bold type of the conversation and created this simple journal reflection the next morning.
